This one’s close to the heart. Back in 2022, my husband and I set out to design and build our own home. The lot we had in mind was truly special — a mature wooded property with a steep ravine wrapping around the back and side, tucked right next to family. It felt like the perfect place to plant roots.

I had a blast exploring floor plan ideas (I may have created 7 or 8 fully detailed versions, furniture and all!), but in the end, one layout stood out as the best fit for our lifestyle and future plans.

Although we ultimately didn’t move forward with the build for a number of reasons, the design still holds a special place in our hearts — and who knows, maybe one day we’ll bring it to life.

Design Style: Modern ShedHaus
This plan was built around clean lines, strong geometry, and a warm modern aesthetic — blending natural materials, shed-style rooflines, and a connection to the surrounding landscape.

A Perfect Blend of Open Concept and Privacy
The layout thoughtfully balances open, airy communal spaces with private, cozy retreats. The main living areas flow seamlessly for easy gathering and entertaining, while bedrooms and quieter zones are tucked away to ensure peace and personal space. This blend creates a home that feels spacious yet intimate, ideal for both connection and relaxation.
